Former UFC Fighter Tim Hague in Critical Condition Following KO Loss in Boxing Match

The world of combat sports in undoubtedly a risky one and anyone who enters this sport is risking their life and that was the case for former UFC heavyweight star Tim Hague.

Saturday morning, unfortunate news surfaced regarding UFC veteran Tim Hague, who was placed in the Intensive Care Unit following a devastating knockout in a boxing match Friday evening.

Former UFC fighter Tim Hague was knocked out in the second round of his boxing match against Adam Braidwood Friday night, and he has reportedly been left brain dead and in critical condition.

After being hit right in the face, Hague landed face first on the mat and his head bounced off the canvas - prompting immediate concern from medical officials in the arena.

Melanie Lubovac of KO Boxing wouldn't comment on the event when reached late Saturday when Hague's family said he was in critical condition, but Lubovac said a statement would likely be issued Sunday or Monday.




"It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today", Hague's sister, Jackie Neil, said in a statement, via CBC.

"He was surrounded by family, listening to his favourite songs".

Hague underwent brain surgery after being knocked out by Adam Braidwood at the Shaw Conference Centre. "We will miss him with so greatly", Neil wrote. "We ask for privacy during this hard time".

Ricky Hatton is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1997 to 2012. He compiled a 21-13 MMA record before switching to boxing.

Fighting out of Alberta, Canada, Hague made five appearances in the UFC between 2009 and 2011. Hague last fought in MMA in July 2016, losing to MichaƂ Andryszak by knockout.
