Kellyanne Conway's husband swipes at Trump on Twitter

Kellyanne Conway spars with TODAY hosts over Trump's tweets

It is, to say the least, highly unusual for a president to comment in such a belligerent way about a matter that is now before federal courts - the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to reinstate the most recent version of his Muslim ban last week.

And all of these tweets, taken as the presidential pronouncements that they are, have entirely overshadowed the Trump administration's attempt to push for infrastructure reform.

"The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.", Trump posted on Twitter Monday morning.

Federal judges have consistently cited Trump's public comments in ordering the travel ban frozen, determining that his statements show that his intent in signing the directive was not to protect national security, but rather to discriminate against Muslims.

That's what made her husband's Monday morning tweet so surprising.

The Department of Justice isn't able to use White House press secretary Sean Spicer's favorite response to reporters' questions about President Trump's more questionable tweets: "The tweet speaks for itself". Conway suggested that he and his colleagues in the media would do better to spend less time covering the president's tweets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says claims about Russian involvement in USA elections are untrue, and says the United States actively interferes with elections in other countries.

Kellyanne Conway on Monday condemned what she called the media's "obsession with covering everything (Trump) says on Twitter and very little of what he does as president".

Sebastian Gorka, a deputy assistant to Trump, used a tactic similar to Kellyanne Conway on CNN Monday morning. "It's social media. Please understand the difference". "Let's talk about policy".

"I am profoundly grateful to the President and to the Attorney General for selecting me to serve in the Department of Justice".

After pressed that Trump's tweets are policy, Gorka said: "They are not policy".

But Trump could, if he wanted to, tweet about infrastructure and follow the lead of his top aides.

Trump says the Justice Department should ask for an "expedited hearing" on the second ban and "seek much tougher version!"
