Lampard: Tying down Conte would be Chelsea's most important signing of summer

Transfer Talk: Zidane makes plea to Ronaldo, Conte unhappy with lack of new signings

However, with his heart set on moving to former club Atletico Madrid next term, Costa would have to wait until January to make a move to his preferred club.

Market transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio says Atletico Madrid will soon announce the return of Diego Costa after having reached an agreement with Chelsea.

The Chelsea striker revealed on June 8 that he had received a message from manager Antonio Conte telling him he was not in his plans at Stamford Bridge for next season.

While Atletico would love to snap up their former star without any further ado, they will have to wait until the turn of the year to sign and register players due to a Federation Internationale de Football Association imposed transfer ban that forbids them from recruiting this summer.

That led to both Milan and Juventus being mentioned as possible suitors for Costa, although Juventus are in the process of signing Patrick Schick.

The idea of selling Costa elsewhere is remote because of his steadfast determination to consider only a move back to Madrid.

During those conversations the 47-year-old has emphasised the need for a larger squad to cope with the demands of the Champions League, and also made it clear that he intends to target the competition that he has yet to win as a manager.

Chelsea will start a tour to Asia a week later with the first open-doors friendly planned, against Arsenal, in Beijing, on July 22.

Turan joined from Atletico in the summer but was ineligible to play until their ban was over six months later, meaning he was only able to train.

Shaka Hislop has urged Chelsea to complete the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco this summer, describing the midfielder as the "perfect fit" for the Blues.
