Two Toddlers Die After Mom Left Them in Hot Car as Punishment

Parker Co. Sheriff's Office arrested 24-year-old Cynthia Marie Randolph after her two children were left in a car and died of heat exposure

The Washington Post reports that Cynthia Randolph told cops that her 2-year-old daughter and 16-month-old son disappeared while playing on May 26.

Cynthia Randolph, 24, faces felony charges in the deaths of her two toddlers.

The incident happened in late May, when she initially told police the children locked themselves inside the vehicle. Then she initially told authorities the children locked themselves in the vehicle. She said after a half-hour of searching, she found their dead bodies in her auto. When the 2-year-old refused, she said she shut the door to teach her daughter a "lesson".

She acknowledged going back into the home west of Fort Worth, smoking marijuana and then napping for two or three hours. In Weatherford, Texas, temperatures reached a high of 96 degrees that day. She was booked into the Parker Country Jail on Friday. She broke the vehicle window in an attempt to save them, according to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.

Authorities later determined that the children died from extreme heat exposure.

Two young siblings died after their mother allegedly left them in a hot auto for three hours as punishment.

The children were pronounced dead at around 16:30, which was four hours after they had been left in the auto.

Children are still dying in locked, hot cars.

According to the version of events she described on Friday, Randolph saw her children playing in the auto around 12:15 p.m. and used a profanity to order them out of the vehicle.

At the time Randolph stated the kids were exposed to the extreme temperature levels in the vehicle for "no greater than an hour". She also confessed that she broke her auto windows to support her first story.

No bond has been set yet in her case.

According to Randolph's final account, she found her children playing inside her auto around noon and she immediately told her daughter to " Stop your s-t" and get out of the vehicle.
