Celtics Trade Avery Bradley

Avery Bradley

The Boston Celtics are finalizing a trade to send Avery Bradley to Detroit, league sources tell ESPN.

The Celtics are also better with Morris and Hayward, who factored into this deal. Bradley's contract puts the team in the same position as a year ago, so President Van Gundy could ride Jackson and Drummond out this season or at least until the trade deadline before exploring the market. Bradley will be leaving the team coming off a season where he averaged a career-high 16.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. He will be an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Are the Celtics better with Avery Bradley or Marcus Morris? Without getting off other salary, the largest offer sheet the Pistons could now match to Caldwell-Pope as a restricted free agent would start around $15.7 million. He averaged 16.3 points per game for Boston this past season in an average of more than 33 minutes per game. But Boston thought Morris gave them another option at power forward.

Marcus Morris was taken with the #14 overall pick in the 2011 National Basketball Association draft by the Houston Rockets, one slot after his brother was taken at #13 by the Phoenix Suns. He is a First Team All-Defensive-caliber defender who shot 39% from three last season, and he will be paid only $8.8 million this season.

Morris, 27, has spent the last two seasons in Detroit.

The future in Detroit is still unclear, moves could still be on the horizon, with Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson still on the books, it's hard to make moves to improve.

In a vacuum, adding Morris to the mix in the Bradley deal makes Crowder expendable. I think they somewhat understate his value, which is somewhere in the very good range.

As the Celtics are counting on Smart to step up, Detroit is putting pressure on third-year forward Stanley Johnson. Detroit has another solid wing player in Tobias Harris, and the Pistons drafted sharp-shooting Duke guard Luke Kennard in the first round. The Pistons relied heavily on the trio of Morris, Tobias Harris and Jon Leuer at forward last season.

Of course, it remains to be seen what head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy has in the works.
