Clinton Reveals The Decision She 'Regrets The Most' In New Memoir

New Clinton book blasts Sanders for 'lasting damage' in 2016 race

In her new memoir, Hillary Clinton has said that Bernie Sanders' attacks against her during the presidential campaign "caused lasting damage".

Supporters of former candidate Sanders will probably feel more alienated from Democrats with the release of Clinton's book.

"There were times that I was deeply unsure about whether our marriage could or should survive", she wrote, per CNN, which got an early copy of the book. 'Friends advised on me the power of Xanax and raved about their wonderful therapists, ' she writes - without revealing whether she took the guidance. It was my campaign. With each finger pointing toward Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and even the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, she is doing nothing but showering them with compliments for their strength, or at least enough power to bring her to her demise.

According to excerpts of the book, which will be released September 12, Clinton said Sanders failed to make a policy argument against her so instead he resorted to "innuendo and impugning my character".

Excerpts from "What Happened" have revealed Clinton venting at many, including those in her own party, for costing her the White House.

"But he isn't a Democrat - that's not a smear, that's what he says", she wrote of the Independent. I supported you. Bernie showed restraint & class & ran aspirational campaign.

She accuses Sanders of resorting "to innuendo and impugning my character" because the two candidates actually agreed on so many issues.

Sanders brushed off Clinton's criticism in a Wednesday interview with The Hill, saying it's time for Democrats to "look forward, not backward". In particular, she faulted the former president for failing to address Russia's US election interference adequately enough earlier on in 2016. "We remember how she flip-flopped on the [Trans-Pacficic Partnership]".

"There's nothing I was looking forward to more than showing Putin that his efforts to influence our election and install a friendly puppet had failed", she wrote. "It's certainly not helpful", the aide, also unnamed, said. As USA Today reports, Hillary is attaching the blame to Bernie Sanders for paving the way for Trump. He didn't want her to drag out the angry and prolonged campaign.

She writes that she was "ticked off" and "almost physically sick" by Lauer's persistent focus on her email scandal. Get away from me.

Finally, there is this bit of soul-searching: "What makes me such a lightning rod for fury? The answers were always yes".

"We'll never know", Clinton wrote. "This [Trump] is a man who is doing what he can do on behalf of America's women".
