Michelle Williams Joins Tom Hardy in Venom Movie

Riz Ahmed is also on the call sheet for Sony's project about one of Spider-Man's signature villains

EW has confirmed the actress is in talks for a role in the film, which stars Hardy as the eponymous character.

According to Variety's sources, Williams has been cast as a district attorney and possible love interest for Hardy's character, Eddie Brock. Sony declined to comment.

It's further said Venom will start filming next month, with Ruben Fleischer as the director and Riz Ahmed also cast in a role, but previously said not be for Carnage. Michelle Williams may join Tom Hardy's "Venom". The movie will be Spider-Man-centric, but won't be related to the Spider-Man cinematic universe, which includes the recent Sony/Marvel Studios collaboration Spider-Man: Homecoming.

If this is true, then she may be playing Anne Weying, Eddie Brock's wife in the Marvel Comics Universe. This is obviously a major get for Sony, which views Venom as the kickoff to a major web of interconnected movies.

We are yet to see whether Michelle Williams teams up with Tom Hardy! This role feels weird for Williams, as she's already getting Oscar Buzz for Ridley Scott's All The Money In the World, is supposedly great in Todd Haynes' Wonderstruck, and hasn't been in a big studio picture since Oz: The Great and the Powerful (which is, admittedly, fun).

#Marvel comics fans will know that Venom revolves around an alien who bonds with a host for its survival, after which it enhances the powers of his host, becoming a new dual-life form "Venom".

Venom, which also has Riz Ahmed circling, is scheduled to hit USA cinemas on October 5, 2018.

Venom made his first appearance on the big screen in Sam Raimis "Spider-Man 3" and was played by actor Topher Grace.
