Narendra Modi, Tendulkar congratulates PV Sindhu over Koren Open Super Series win

PV Sindhu race into semis; Sameer, Satwik-Chirag lose in Korea Open quarters

Getting her angles correct, Sindhu quickly took a 5-3 lead with the use of steep smashes. Okuhara managed to save two game points as she equalized 20-all.

The players are done with their warmups, and we are all set for play to begin.

Rio Olympics and World Championship silver medallist P V Sindhu stood one step away from winning the Korea Open Super Series after advancing to the finals of the women's singles event, here today. She is also the first Indian to win the Korea Open.

Meanwhile, unseeded Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defeated compatriot Jonatan Christie 21-13, 19-21, 22-20 in an hour and eight minutes to clinch the men's title. The match which went into the final set saw Sindhu take the opening set 21-19 after leading 11-9 at the break.

The Hyderabad young lady, who picked up her second Super Series title of the season and third overall, also denied Okuhara her third title on the trot. Okuhara reached game-point first, at 20-18, but Sindhu produced her best badminton at this stage to win four points in an unbroken reel. As the action now shifts to Japan for the eighth Superseries of the season, Sindhu and Okuhara are expected to meet early, in the second round. In the quarterfinal, Okuhara dispatched Yip Pui Yin of Hong Kong.

Okuhara was subdued with minor tweaks to Sindhu's game - corrections that coach Gopichand personally supervised right from the day after the duo returned from Glasgow.

The 21-shot rally between both of them in the second game was the highlight of the final after the which Okuhara lay flat on the ground with no energy left.

IN A REPEAT of World Badminton Championships finals between PV Sindhu and Japanese Nozomi Okuhara, the result favoured the Indian this time. And then, there was absolutely nothing to separate the two gladiators at the World Championships last month.
