Netanyahu Meets Egypt's a-Sisi in First Public Forum

Netanyahu, Egypt's Sisi to hold first public meeting in NYC: reports

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt supports the efforts exerted by the United Nations bodies to restore peace and find solutions for crises gripping the region.

Egypt has become increasingly involved in affairs with the "Israeli" entity. Pictures of the meeting showed the two men seemingly conversing well with each other.

Mr El Sisi joined Mr Netanyahu and then U.S. secretary of state John Kerry for talks hosted by Jordan's King Abdullah in Aqaba in February last year, a former USA official confirmed to Agence France-Presse earlier this year.

In a statement after the meeting, Egyptian spokesperson Alla Yussef said that Netanyahu and Sisi had discussed ways to revive negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

It appears that the path to influencing Israel's foreign policy goes through the US Jewish community's leadership forum.

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani also appealed on Tuesday, during his speech to the General Assembly, for the Palestinians "to complete national reconciliation and unify positions and words in confronting the dangers and challenges facing the Palestinian cause and the future of the Palestinian people". "Most people would say there's no chance whatsoever", said the president, who is due to meet with Mr Abbas on Wednesday.

Trump told reporters before the meeting that the United States "will consider" resuming some of the suspended military assistance to Egypt. So we're working very hard on it; we'll see what happens.

On Monday morning, al-Sisi met with a group of American Jewish leaders to discuss the Trump administration's efforts to achieve an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal.

Egyptian state press said the NY meetings would further reconciliation.

It was the first public meeting between the two leaders since al-Sisi won the Presidency in June 2014. The attendees reportedly included influential religious ministers, officials and former members of the military, as well as leaders of research centres and U.S. think tanks.
