Pelosi defends Dream Act, deal with Trump at Sacramento event

Dem lawmaker warns of 'political and moral limitations’ to working with Trump

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was confronted at a press conference in San Francisco on Monday by protesters who were furious at her for striking a tentative deal with President Trump over the DACA program.

"You've had your say, and it's handsome", Pelosi told the demonstrators at one point.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco alleges the move violated the constitutional rights of immigrants who lack legal status and provided information about themselves to the USA government so they could participate in the program.

"We told him no wall and he said I understand that", Pelosi said. DACA recipients have also filed suit in SF court against Trump's attempts to end the program. It was imposed by executive action in 2012 under President Barack Obama and rescinded by the Trump administration on September 5, but a six-month window was provided to give Congress time to address the issue. We send a clear message to our fellow undocumented youth and community: We are the resistance to Trump! The demonstrators took over the event, drowning Pelosi out and eventually driving her from the room.

Last week, Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer met with Trump twice and discussed a deal to provide legal status to young immigrants. The decision by President Obama in 2012 to enact the DACA program was a consequential day for me, as I believed this was the first step to earn my American citizenship.

The Democrats said they and Trump had agreed to "enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly", while improving border security measures "excluding the wall" that has been a hallmark of this administration. After some White House pushback, they clarified with a follow-up statement: "T$3 here was no final deal, but there was agreement" to work toward one.

"I think all of us recognize that outreach for what it is, and that's purely transactional, purely something that will come up from time to time when the president decides it's in his personal interest to work with Democrats", Schiff said. "He's getting a lot of pushback from Republicans".

"We want protections for our parents and us", one protester was overheard on a microphone telling Pelosi on stage. That is a positive, compassionate move that should bring support from those who have worked hard to protect the 800,000 people who now live in daily fear of deportation from the only homeland they remember. In August, U.S. Sen.

The leader of California's state Senate, Democrat Kevin de Leon, suggested the comments made Feinstein complicit in what he called Trump's "reckless behavior". The belated elaboration raises the question why Schumer and Pelosi spiked the ball so soon.

"You're a liar, you're a liar", protesters said, attacking her about her efforts to stop deportation.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Congresswoman Doris Matsui joined a group of local legislators and Sacramento State leaders for a news conference Monday urging Congress to pass the Dream Act. Campos said her parents brought her to the United States from Mexico before her first birthday.

Pelosi did not hesitate to say that "comprehensive immigration reform" to legalize other illegal immigrants was her goal. "It's all or none".

Here Pelosi calls the protesters "ridiculous", while they chant loudly in the background. "I think [Trump's] going to take that same attitude in this speech today at the United Nations".
