Sri Lanka dominate Pakistan in second Test

"It's always my priority to take wickets but the pitch was not assisting on the first day", Yasir said.

In a major blow to Pakistan, pacer Mohammad Amir has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a stress-related injury in the right shin.

They could have enough runs on the board. They have lost matches from stronger positions in the past three years. Pakistan's small victories, however, ensured the dream of a squared series endures into day three. The first arrived in the afternoon session.

Dickwella attacked Yasir and struck five fours to add some impetus to the innings, Sri Lanka moving on to 355-4 at tea with the composed Karunaratne easing past 150 and reaching the 3000-run mark at Test level.

Lahiru Gamage, the debutant paceman, took his first wicket in Tests when he bowled Shan Masood through the gate after the opener had made 16. Sami Aslam - the more confident of the openers - was soon trapped in front by Dilruwan Perera.

Sadeera Samarawickrama and Roshen Silva, both of whom are part of the Test squad in the ongoing series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates, will join the A-side once that series wraps up. A fine piece of reverse-swing bowling from Suranga Lakmal, however, removed Shafiq.

Pakistan's miseries were compounded in the morning when pace spearhead Mohammad Amir walked off the field after a recurring shin injury sustained late on Friday. The bowlers shared around the rewards. Sri Lanka won the toss and came to bat first and with their destructive batting line up, they dominated Pakistani world class bowlers and scored 482 runs so far.

It was the third collapse, however, that was the most dramatic. According to the last news, Pakistan is in bat and finished the second day with 51 runs in exchange for no wickets. Wahab Riaz, who replaced Hasan Ali in Second Test, failed to pick up a wicket yet. Excluding him, three others made half centuries named Chandimal, Dickwella and Perera. Ali hit six boundaries in his patient knock. He had been on 10 when he set off for a sharp single from the non-striker's end, only to be sent back belatedly by his partner. He smashed four boundaries and two sixes. Without this partnership, Pakistan would have been out of the match completely.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chose to extend men's cricket team coach Mickey Arthur's contract until 2019 World Cup. At stumps, he was grinning. He was visibly disappointed in the afternoon, tense through the twilight session, then grumpy as Pakistan's middle and lower order threw their wickets away.
