Actor David Cassidy in critical condition due to organ failure

David Cassidy is in the hospital in critical condition- his organs are shutting down and as one source put it

In February, Cassidy announced he has dementia, something both his mother and grandfather battled.

David Cassidy, the wildly popular '70s heartthrob who shot to fame when he starred and sang in TV's "The Partridge Family", is in critical condition with organ failure.

Cassidy reportedly checked into a Florida hospital three days ago, and his family has been told to "prepare for the worst". He has been in declining health for a while and has been open about his prior financial and health problems.

Cassidy's representative Jo-Ann Geffen told TMZ that doctors are rushing to get him a liver transplant.

"He is in the hospital and it's not looking good", a source told E!

Cassidy has spoken publicly in recent years about his struggles with alcohol.

He went on to become a successful singer garnering a loyal fan base and performing many of his hit songs from "The Partridge Family", such as "I Think I Love You".

The former actor and singer is best-known for his role at Keith Partridge on the 1970s sitcom "The Partridge Family", which aired from 1970-1974.
