Take firm stance against Iran, Saudi asks Arab League By

Saudi Arabia lead Arab nations in condemning Iran Hezbollah

On Sunday, Arab League foreign ministers held an emergency meeting in Cairo, requested by Saudi Arabia, to discuss ways to confront Iran and Hezbollah over their role in the region.

Bahrain s foreign minister said Sunday that Lebanon is under the "total control" of the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, in a speech at an Arab League meeting called by Riyadh.

"We will not stand idly by in the face of Iran's aggression", Riyadh's foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, said in public remarks to the assembled officials.

The House of Saud has been losing ground in the multi-religious Mediterranean state, and the Bahraini foreign minister at the Arab League summit called Lebanon's Hezbollah militia "Iran's longest arm in the region".

"Firing the ballistic missiles toward Riyadh and the bombing of oil pipeline in Bahrain are all unsafe developments emanating from the Iranian agenda", Al-Mekhlafi continued.

Ghassemi also described the Arab League┬┤s statement as "untrue" and urged Saudi Arabia to "immediately stop its savage aggression against the Yemeni Arab people" and "stop its pressure on Lebanon, Qatar and the entire region".

The Arab League accused Hezballah of "supporting terrorism and extremist groups in Arab countries with advanced weapons and ballistic missiles", in its declaration.

"The Iranian threats have gone beyond all limits and are pushing the region toward a unsafe precipice", Abul Gheit added.

Netanyahu says he and Macron agreed to meet to "see if we can adopt similar approaches, as much as possible, concerning this threat and the nuclear agreement with Iran".

The Cairo meeting was not attended by Lebanese foreign minister Gerban Basil. PM Saad Hariri, a Sunni leader belongs to Future Movement.

In statements posted on Twitter, Aoun said Lebanon could not be held "responsible" for regional conflicts.

Iran has been helping Iraq and Syria with military advisors in their fight against Daesh (IS) and other terrorist groups. Both have denied any involvement in the incident.

Recently BBC has carried an investigation on how U.S. and its allies shifted Daesh terrorists from Raqqa, Syria and the way they didn't allow Russian Federation to bomb the fleeing terrorists from Raqqa.

In what is perhaps the only concrete measure, the ministers said Arab telecommunications satellites would ban Iranian-financed television stations for what they said was their fomenting of sectarian and ethnic tensions and because they posed a threat to Arab security.

A source close to Hariri said that meeting aimed to "continue the series of Arab and global consultations".
