Disappointing iPhone X Sales Prompt Samsung To Slash OLED Panel Production

Nikkei Samsung wil slash OLED production because of poor demand for the iPhone X

Demonstrating the fecal feature at the iPhone X's unveiling past year, Apple's Craig Federighi said: "If you were by chance wondering what humanity would do when given access to the most advanced facial tracking technology available, you now have your answer".

This follows another Nikkei report from last month that states Apple will halve its iPhone X production target for the first three months of 2018 to around 20 million units. And Samsung, the only manufacturer of OLED screens good enough for Apple's iPhone, is now forced to slash its OLED panel production.

The industry tracker said there was robust demand for the iPhone X, though global iPhone volumes have been on the decline on an annual basis for five of the past eight quarters. It is not yet clear what will be the production targets in the second quarter, but a further reduction may be possible. For the facility dedicated to making panels for Apple, the rate will fall to 50 percent or lower.

More details in the full report linked below... Apple's supply chain has countless moving parts, and CEO Tim Cook has previously cautioned investors from paying too much attention to this type of speculation. In this manner, Apple will give LG Electronics a very tough time, so it should plan an innovative market strategy of its own. The beginning inventory positions can vary, I mean there is just a long list of things that would make any single data point not a great proxy for what's going on. More recently, however, there have been various reports that the special smartphone from Apple was experiencing a much serious decrease in its sales after the holiday season was over. That accounts partially for why iPhone X sales have been weak. The Motley Fool has a disclosure policy.
