Iran Threatens to Quit Nuclear Deal if US Walks Away

It's Trump's move in Iran chess match

However, this information predates the JCPOA agreement, and this is not to say that Iran is not complying with the deal.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday Russia would deem any changes to the deal to be unacceptable too.

Iran insists there is no way it will renegotiate the nuclear pact, which is officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Iran on Tuesday branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an "infamous liar" over his allegations of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons programme.

Netanyahu said the documents provided evidence that Iran attempted to develop a nuclear bomb in the 2000s.

However, Lavrov said, judging from the comments of experts who participated in the deal's creation, the documents "may well be related to the previous activities already accounted for during the IAEA inspections".

Oil prices rose yesterday but stayed below recent highs as global supplies remained tight and the market awaited news from Washington on possible new USA sanctions against Iran. "We would develop bilateral relations in all areas - energy, transport, high-tech, medicine".

Such an action could only be blocked by the UN Security Council but the USA could simply veto any such resolution. Iran is also far from isolated on the worldwide stage, maintaining amicable ties with Europe and increasingly strategic relationships with global powers such as China and Russian Federation.

"Iran's answers and explanations for numerous IAEA's concerns were, at best, partial, but overall, obfuscating and stonewalling", David Albright and his colleagues at the nonpartisan Institute for Science and International Security wrote in December 2015.

Yermakov stated that there was no reason for Iran to pull out of the deal, and it was in a strong position because it was fully meeting its obligations. In exchange, Iran regained access to the global banking system and could sell its oil again on the world market.

Trump seemed unmoved, but on Monday it was barely noticed that after lambasting the accord, he added, "That doesn't mean we won't negotiate a real agreement".

One of the main sticking points has to do with the "sunsets", where the United States in effect wishes to find a way to extend some of the limits on Iran's nuclear program beyond their expiration dates under the agreement.

"On 11 occasions since, the United Nations nuclear watchdog has confirmed that Iran has implemented all of its obligations", Zarif, who studied in the US, says in American-accented English.

What ought to happen is that the president should continue to comply with the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, even as the USA and its European allies discuss ways to strengthen the agreement.

"But Americans talks neither about IS or al-Qaeda".

Feoktistov noted that United States recently stopped describing ISIS as the main threat, meaning they don't deny that terrorist organization is a threat but they are trying to put this "matter on the back burner".
