Women Sue Charlie Rose, CBS News Alleging Sexual Harrassment

Charlie Rose Sued by 3 CBS Staffers for Sexual Harassment

CBS did not provide immediate comment on the lawsuit Friday.

Charlie Rose attends the 2017 Time 100 Gala at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 25, 2017 in New York City.

Three women filed a lawsuit in New York State Court on Friday against Charlie Rose and CBS News, alleging the television host had sexually harassed them and the network had been "fully aware" of his behavior toward women. In the suit, 2 of the women - Katherine Brooks Harris and Sydney McNeal, his assistant - say Rose told them they were hired specifically because he likes tall women.

Rose, a co-host on CBS This Morning and a correspondent for the network's flagship Sunday night news program 60 Minutes, is among numerous men in politics, business and the entertainment industry who have seen their careers implode following allegations of sexual misconduct, fuelling the social media #MeToo movement in the past few months. Rose was sacked as "CBS This Morning" anchor and PBS cancelled his interview show after an earlier Post report on women who said he groped them, made lewd remarks or walked around naked around them. PBS and Bloomberg also severed their relationships with Rose.

The three women claim Rose had a nasty side, berating them for booking the incorrect flights and calling them idiots. Both Harris and McNeal lost their jobs after Rose's PBS show was canceled in the wake of the Post's reporting. She also claimed that she had told Mr. Kadro, "I'm telling you in case you have a lawsuit on your hands".

During lunches with Harris, Rose would place "his hands on her thigh and [kiss] her cheek", the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit alleges that Rose made sexually explicit comments and engaged in sexual contact with three employees. Harris and McNeal say Rose would tell the women they should become lovers. with each other, not him. The suit also states that Rose referred to Wei as "China doll", caressed her arms, and whispered in her ear "Happy birthday, dear".

"The claims in the lawsuit filed today against Mr".

The women are suing Rose and CBS for discrimination, retaliation and sexual harassment.

In a statement when the allegations first surfaced, Rose apologized for "inappropriate behavior", but said some allegations were not accurate.

CBS News is also named as a defendant. "I had been there long enough to know that it was just the way things went", said Sophie Gayter, 27, who said Rose groped her while they walked down a hall.

The plaintiffs in Friday's lawsuit - Katherine Harris, Sydney McNeal and Yuqing Wei - worked in different capacities for Rose a year ago while he was a co-host for CBS This Morning, according to the complaint. CBS "did not investigate the complaint, and did not take any remedial action", the lawsuit alleges.
