In wake of Solo, Lucasfilm putting Star Wars spinoffs on hold

Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney's latest attempt to turn the Star Wars universe into shareholder dividends, didn't get the kind of box office reception the company was hoping for. Rian Johnson's new trilogy is still being worked on, as well as a series of Star Wars films from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (GFame of Thrones).

Collider's sources have mentioned that the rumored Obi-Wan film was in the works, but those behind the scenes aren't a part of it anymore. "But Lucasfilm's main focus at the moment is planning the next trilogy after the Abrams-directed [Episode IX], which is expected to conclude the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) that began with The Force Awakens".

Collider.com is reporting that LucasFilm has chose to put a hold on development of these spinoff movies and refocus it's efforts on "Star Wars: Episode IV" and the next trilogy of movies after production wraps up on that one.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" raked in a relatively healthy $155 million on its opening weekend when it premiered in December 2016, and has earned more than $1 billion worldwide.

Future "Star Wars" anthology movies like "Rogue One" and "Solo" may not be coming to theaters any time soon.

Solo did really well by any blockbuster standard when it came to the box office, but didn't quite hit the the lofty expectations Disney has for such a massive Star Wars event.

Following the disaster known as Han Solo, it's rumored the first fallout comes in the form of any additional Star Wars spinoffs being placed on hold.

After the disappointing performance of "Solo" at the box office, Disney appears to have a bad feeling about more spinoff films, at least for now. Others think that it's because it's competing with Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

Are we suffering from Star Wars fatigue?

Solo, on the other hand, is the first Star Wars since Revenge of the Sith to actually star a well-known character whose most important life moments we already know.
